Is it ok to ask family members to make things for my wedding instead of a gift?
I’m on a tight budget and I was thinking about asking my cousin (who enjoys making wedding cakes) to make my wedding cake instead if buying me a wedding gift is that tacky?
If it’s done the right way, then no it’s not tacky. If you have a good relationship with your cousin then go for it. Let her know that you are totally ok with it if she doesn’t want to do. If you don’t feel comfortable asking her to do it for free, consider asking if she would do it at a reduced prices. Congrats and good luck!
