Las Vegas Sign Weddings

Are the Las Vegas weddings with Elvis impersonators official?
Within the USA and outside of it (specifically Australia).
I’m wondering if, following a similar principle to homosexual marriages, they are only recognised in Nevada, or the US?
(My friend got drunk and he and a girl he’d known 17 hours got married in Vegas. He did sign some paper(?s?), but he didn’t think at the time that it would hold outside of USA.)
I want to know if he actually is married, and should he attempt to get married in Australia, if he will legally be able to.
He didn’t go to a courthouse and get a licence, I believe.
He just went to an LV chapel with an Elvis. Walk in, walk out. No engagement or planning the bouquets.
Congrats to him .. he is legally married. A marriage is a marriage here. If he went to the courthouse and got a license then had a marriage ceremony … Elvis, drive through, in a helicopter. Doesn’t matter .. they are legal and binding. Drinking and marrying aren’t a good mixture. Just ask Dennis Rodman.
