Shower Wedding Invitations

I have a friend that says you get a wedding invitation 1st then a shower invitation and that’s the proper way.?
This friend says the proper way to do things for a wedding is to send out the wedding invitations and then send out the bridal shower invitations. That I have done everything backwards for their daughters bridal shower. I really thought the way it should all go is a engagement party; 2nd bridal shower; 3rd bachelor and bachelorette parties; rehearsal dinner; wedding then reception. This friend says I am wrong.
engagement, wedding, shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal. it is rude to invite someone to a wedding shower and not the wedding. so you would send out the wedding invite beforehand. also it is proper to send out the wedding invite six’s weeks prior and usually the showers are within a month of the wedding. and you would not give as much notice for the shower as you would for the wedding.
