How much should I charge for wedding cakes?
I make cupcakes for the wedding co worker next month and I'm not sure how should be your office, how am I going to store, transport, etc. will be undertaken jumbo chocolate buttercream and yellow black and white flowers fondant (Wilton cuts cut) at the top. I do 200 of them. I do not know if I charge for bread or make a detailed list of supplies and double triple it. I had a list of interim supply, which comes to about $ 200. If I charged for the cupcake thought at a rate of $ 3.00, maybe 4.00 $ For each cupcake. Is this reasonable? Too? Too little? If anyone has any tips to fix prices (and / or advice on how to store in advance and even to reach the room), I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
Advice from a former cake designer semi: For cakes simple – not much work – I'm starting $ 1.50 per serving for butter cream base and you raise the price to be based on the cost of severance (Special charges, improvements in the type of cake or ice, the extraordinary work of pipes, and other fancy things that do). This essentially charge 3-5 times the cost of ingredients and which is 3, 4 or 5 times the cost of ingredients is based on the amount of work I do. According complexity of flowers to make it looks like $ 3.00 per cupcake is a fair price. Another way to validate the price is to call local bakeries. This will indicate if your price is competitive. As for storage, most stores that sell craft products carry Wilton cake boxes. Get the box sheet cake. If you are bringing and cooling / freezing cupcakes – Wrap box with several layers of plastic wrap keep them fresh. Do not store with flowers fondant flowers or PRESET – if they move in transit and have no additional hardware (which reminds me – Plan on extra things to repair anything in the lobby. Put flowers in your own image – using crumpled tissue to ensure security. I hope you have an SUV or van available for use – you do not want to stack the boxes – they should be flat – Or you have tons of repairs to do! Hiring at least one friend to help put flowers on the cake at the reception. I can pay aid 7.50 Per hour – plan to be about two hours to set up cakes and flowers up and general cleaning. Good luck!
