Weekend Wedding Itinerary

Date night in NYC?
My husband and I are going to NYC for a wedding next weekend. My mother-in-law has monopolized most of our time there by filling it with things she wants all of us to do together. Thursday night is our free day/night though, and I want us to have a an awesome, ‘New York’ night. We may see a broadway musical but we’re not sure yet. Does anyone have some ideas of how to spend our day and our night? Maybe around Times Square in the evening? Not looking for a list of twenty things or anything, but what kind of itinerary would you suggest for a young couple with an afternoon and evening to kill? We love wine, music, (not into the club scene so much though) books, history, good food… what would you?
Take the Staten Island ferry to Staten island in the morning, spend some time in Central Park in the afternoon and go to see a Broadway musical in the evening. This would be a perfect day in NYC.
The Staten Island ferry is almost free, the boat passes by the statue of Liberty and gives a great view of Manhattan. Also, it’s cool to be on the deck on a hot day. Central Park is a “must-see” place. Take a train to 72d Street and Central Park West, enter the park from there and go inside. And in the evening see a musical such as Gypsy.
I hope you enjoy your stay in NYC!
